The Appellate Chamber confirms a first instance verdict, under which Jasko Gazdic was sentenced to 17 years in prison for crimes in Foca, rejecting appeals filed by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Defence and indictee Jasko Gazdic.

Ex-fighter Jasko Gazdic appealed against his 17-year jailing for wartime rapes in Foca in 1992 and 1993, arguing he has never touched a woman, while the prosecution demanded a longer sentence.

During the trial of Jasko Gazdic, a former member of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina tried to prove that he raped several women who were detained in the Partizan sports hall as well as in apartments in Foca in 1992. The indictees Defence denied that he committed the rape, and the Trial Chamber shall pronounce its verdict on October 31.

After the defence presented its closing argument at the trial of Jasko Gazdic who is charged with wartime rapes in Foca, the Bosnian State court has announced it will pass the verdict on October 31.
