The Basic Court of Brcko District orders custody for Boban Pop Kostic, who is charged with crimes in the “Luka” detention camp in Brcko in 1992.

Pop Kostic, a citizen of Serbia, has failed to appear at two plea hearings despite being properly invited.

The Trial Chamber of the Basic Court of Brcko District ordered Pop Kostic into two-month custody, starting on his arrest date.

“Considering the fact that the indictee failed to appear at the hearings and that his place of residence is in the Republic of Serbia, the Court accepts the assessment that the indictee is hiding and that any other less severe measure would not ensure his presence during the further course of this criminal proceeding,” the Basic Court’s decision says.

Pop Kostic, former member of the First Posavina Infantry Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, is charged with having participated in the torture, inhumane treatment and causing severe suffering of civilians, who were held in the “Luka” detention camp in Brcko.
