The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is still conducting “an intensive” investigation against Atif Dudakovic, Commander of the Fifth Corps with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH.
The Prosecution previously announced that the investigation against Dudakovic would be completed by the middle of this year.
“The deadline we announced earlier was set for orientation purposes only, so it allowed for the investigation to be completed prior to, or after the mentioned date,” the State Prosecution said in its answer to BIRN Justice Report.
It further said that the investigation in this case covered several persons, reminding that an indictment against five former members of ABiH for crimes in Bihac in 1995 was filed at the beginning of this year. They were covered by the investigation in the “Atif Dudakovic and others” case.
Safet Kovacevic, Muhamed Anadolac, Abid Ljubijankic and Sabahudin Hafuric, former military policemen, and Husein Begic, former Commander of a squad with the Second Company of the Fifth Battalion of ARBiH military police, are charged with having treated prisoners of war, former members of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, in an inhumane manner while transporting them by bus to an exchange location.
As per a proposal by the Defence teams, once the indictment was confirmed, the case was classified as less sensitive and referred to the Cantonal Court and Prosecution in Bihac for further processing.
