UN Reports Presented as Evidence

The District Prosecution in Bijeljina presented official correspondence between police bodies of Republika Srpska, RS, from 1995, directives and orders issued by the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, in the same period of time, as well as UN reports and resolutions pertaining to the happenings prior, during and after the commission of crimes in Srebrenica.
The Defence of the indictee objected to six findings and two expert analyses by UN representatives, claiming that they should be invited to testify before the Court and that the Defence should get a chance to cross-examine them. Therefore the Defence considers that those reports should not be admitted as evidence.
Prior to the next hearing the Trial Chamber will decide whether it will accept any of the proposed pieces of evidence and which ones.
Radojkovic, former Commander of the Third Squad with the Special Brigade of RS police, who allegedly acted in collaboration with other members of that Squad, is charged with having opened a burst of fire on six or seven Bosniaks, who had an intention to surrender, while guarding the road between Bratunac and Konjevic Polje during the withdrawal of the Bosniak population from Srebrenica in 1995.
According to the charges, one person was wounded on that occasion. The person was left lying in a trench by the side of the road without being offered medical assistance. The indictment alleges that Radojkovic went back to the crime scene a few hours later and killed the wounded by shooting him from his rifle.
The trial is due to continue on July 1.
