Askraba: The Amended Indictment

Prosecutor Munib Halilovic did not explain the amended indictment, because Askrabas Defence requested additional time to allow the indictee to get to know the amended indictment.

The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepted the Defences motion and scheduled a hearing at which indictee Askraba will make a plea on the amended indictment of the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Under a first instance verdict pronounced in December 2009, Askraba was acquitted of the charges for crimes in Kalinovik, but the Appellate Chamber revoked the verdict and ordered a retrial.
Indictee Askraba faced a first instance trial along with Nedjo Zeljaja, former Commander of the Public Safety Station in Kalinovik, and Ratko Bundalo, former Commander of the Tactical Group in that town. The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Zeljaja to 15 and Bundalo to 22 years in prison for crimes in Kalinovik in March 2011.
At this hearing, the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina scheduled the closing arguments of the Prosecution for February 13 this year, after the Defence and the Prosecution pointed out that they will not seek the re-presentation of material evidence from the first instance trial.
The next hearing is scheduled for February 13, 2012, when indictee Askraba will make a plea on the amended indictment, and the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin with presenting its closing arguments.S.U.
