At the trial of four indictees for genocide in Srebrenica, witness of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina speaks of killings that took place while he, along with his police colleagues from Police Training Centre on Mount Jahorina, secured part of the road between Konjevic Polje and Bratunac.

Protected witness S121 said that he went to the store in Konjevic Polje and when he came back, he saw the bodies of two men along the road.

“I have heard from others that there was some shooting. There were two versions, they said that Renovica took part there, and according to another version, some man with the blonde hair (…) I asked Renovica and he told me not to ask anything and that he does not know what I am talking about”, said the witness.

Prosecutor Ibro Bulic presented to witness a statement he gave during the investigation, in which, as he stated, he does not mention another version of what he heard in connection with the murder.

“You said that Renovica killed two prisoners, that he fire a burst at their legs and chests”, the Prosecutor reminded the witness, who stuck to the claim that he heard two versions of events and that he was not in situation to make a lot of inquiries.

S121 said that a member of the Centre, whose surname was Renovica, was his Squad Commander, and that Nedjo Ikonic was the Company Commander.

Ikonic, together with Dusko Jevic, Mendeljev Djuric, Goran Markovic are on trial for participating in the forcible resettlement of the Bosniak population from the Srebrenica area and the murder of about 1,000 men in Kravica.

The indictment alleges that Jevic was Commander of the Jahorina Training Centre with the Special Brigade of Republika Srpska police, Djuric and Ikonic were Company Commanders and Markovic was a Squad Commander.

The witness confirmed that Ikonic was with them on the ground. As he stated, the indictee deployed them along the road when they arrived and he was seeing him in the morning when he brought them the food.

Ikonic’s Defense asked the witness whether the indictee could see the bodies of the dead, and he replied that the bodies were taken away on a truck in the morning and that it is possible that he did not see them.

Asked by the Prosecutor about the second case of murder, the witness said that during the night, one young man passed by bearing something on his back.

“They thought it was a rifle and told him to stop. He did not stop and they started to shoot”, witness said.

S121 also stated that he saw members of the Centre escorting a large group of captured men towards Konjevic Polje, and that on the other day he saw in a meadow, men lying with their faces on the ground and were tied behind their backs.

When he went in Konjevic Polje, the witness said that at one facility he saw the men sitting in civilian clothes.

The continuation of trial is scheduled for November, 28.
