State Prosecutor Dzemila Begovic said, at the status conference, that, “in case all goes as planned”, the Prosecution could complete the presentation of evidence in October this year.

Slobodan Peric, Defence attorney of indictee Dronjak, announced that, besides presenting its material evidence, the Defence would also examine 20 witnesses.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Ratko Dronjak, former Commander and Manager of Kamenica detention camp and the “Slavko Rodic” school building prison in Drvar, with organising the unlawful detention of Bosniak and Croat civilians and prisoners of war in the period from 1992 to 1995.

The indictment alleges that civilians and prisoners of war, who were held in those buildings, were subjected to torture, beating, murder and inhumane treatment, while also being forced to perform hard labour.

Dragan Rodic, former guard and guard shift commander in Kamenica detention camp, was originally charged under the same indictment as Dronjak, but, after admitting guilt in October 2010, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The trial began on September 2, 2010. The presentation of Prosecution’s evidence is underway at present.

The trial is due to continue on August 15 this year, following the summer holidays.
