The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina requested at least 30 years of imprisonment for Ratko Dronjak, who was convicted of committing war crimes in Drvar. Dronjaks defense attorney, on the other hand, requested that the court reduce his sentence.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, requests the reconsideration of a decision made by the Constitutional Court of BiH, partially quashing a verdict, under which Ratko Dronjak was sentenced to 18 years in prison for crimes in Drvar, because, as it explained, one of the judges, who participated in quashing the verdict, used to be the indictees Defence attorney.

The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina increases the sentence against Ratko Dronjak for crimes in Drvar from 15 to 18 years in prison.

Both prosecution and defence appealed against the 15-year prison term given to Ratko Dronjak for jailing and abusing civilian inmates in the Bosnian town of Drvar.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Ratko Dronjak to 15 years for crimes committed in prison facilities in the territory of Drvar between 1992 and 1995.
Dronjak was found guilty of taking part in the creation and functioning of an abuse system aimed at creating an atmosphere of terror and committing crimes against civilians and imprisoned soldiers of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatian Defence Council.

In its closing argument the prosecution claims that Ratko Dronjak, as warden of detention camps in “Slavko Rodic” school and Kamenica, tortured, beat and forced the prisoners to carry out hard labour.

The Presentation of evidence at the trial of Ratko Dronjak, who is charged with crimes in Drvar, has been completed with examination of two last Defence witnesses. The presentation of State Prosecutions closing statement is scheduled for May 10.

A Defence witness says, at the trial of Ratko Dronjak, that, in his capacity as manager of the prison in Kamenica, the indictee did not have the authority to bring or take prisoners away and participate in exchange of prisoners.

Testifying in his defence, Ratko Dronjak, who is charged with crimes in Drvar, says that, in his capacity as manager of a military prison in Kamenica, he rarely visited the premises, where prisoners of war were held.
