The Defence of Predrag Kujundzic has begun presenting 76 pieces of material evidence, including court experts’ findings and examination reports and written statements given by about ten witnesses who were examined during the course of the trial. The Chamber will render a decision concerning the validity of the evidence at a later stage.
The State Prosecution charges Kujundzic, as Commander of the “Predini vukovi” (“Predo’s Wolves”) Unit, with aiding and abetting in the murder, the grave deprivation of physical liberty, and the persecution of non-Serbs, as well as other inhumane acts, committed as a part of an attack against the non-Serb population of Doboj Municipality during 1992 and 1993.
Under one count in the indictment the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Kujundzic with having raped and sexually enslaved witness 2, who was a minor at the time, from June to December, 1992.
The presented pieces of evidence include a large number of documents containing personal data about witness 2, her treatment in hospital in Doboj, her marriage and christening and her change of name.
The Prosecution objected to some of these documents, claiming that they did not pertain to the timeframe covered by the indictment.
In order to present “the character and personality” of the indictee, as a family man, the Defence presented, among other things, a copy of his marriage certificate and the birth certificates of his three daughters, as well as student cards of two of his daughters.
The presentation of material evidence is due to continue on May 11. By this date the Defence will make a final decision on whether the indictee will appear as a defence witness or not.
