Trifkovic, a former member of the Osmacki Battalion of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with the murder of Bosniak civilians in the village of Jelovo Brdo in the municipality of Kalesija in June 1992.
The trial was postponed several times due to the extradition of Milisav Trifkovic, who has been accused of the same crimes, from Serbia.
Trial chamber chair Pasa Softic said the two defendants would have separate trials.
“The prosecution will examine a number of witnesses and include material evidence in the case file, and will demonstrate that the defendant is responsible for the persecution of the Bosniak population and the murder of four civilians in the village of Jelovo Brdo,” prosecutor Alma Dzaferovic said.
Defense attorney Milos Peric said the defense would demonstrate that Trifkovic was not responsible for the crimes described in the indictment.
The trial will continue on January 28, 2016. The first witnesses will be examined at the next hearing.
