Marjanovic’s defense asked the trial chamber to approve an expert examination of the defendant’s health. The trial chamber asked the defense to submit Marjanovic’s medical documentation within the next seven days, after which point the chamber will decide whether to approve the expert examination or not.

Marjanovic, a former member of the Bircanska Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with war crimes committed at a detention facility in Caparde in June 1992. The facility held unlawfully detained Bosniak women who’d been deported from the Brcko area.

According to the charges, Marjanovic raped and sexually abused one woman in the facility in an extremely cruel manner, using both threats and physical force.

The Marjanovic case was referred to judicial bodies in Bijeljina for further processing after the Bosnian state court confirmed the indictment against him.

The beginning of the trial has been scheduled for December 24.
