Indictment Against Pijunovic Further Defined

“Based on the evidence presented so far it has not been determined that the defendant committed that crime,” prosecutor Mersiha Mahutovic said.

The district prosecution of Doboj has charged Pijunovic, a former member of the Mice – Red Berets paramilitary formation, with participating in acts of torture, abduction, theft and the unlawful detention of civilians in Teslic from May to July 1992.

The trial chamber refused the defense’s proposal to have Pijunovic face injured parties Asir Kopic and Saban Mesinovic – who previously testified – again.

At the next hearing, scheduled for June 29, Pijunovic will give additional testimony in his own defense, while the prosecution and defense will present their closing statements.
