D said that the injured party and Savic were in a close relationship, which she described as the “opposite of violence and rape.” The injured party in the case is known as protected witness A.

“Witness A would have certainly confided in me if she had been raped,” D said.

She said she and A were extremely close. According to the charges, Savic raped A.

“She [A] used to say that she had a good time with the defendant [Savic]…He would visit her at her place. I was present as well. He was in uniform, but I do not know if he was armed,” D said.

The Bosnian state prosecution has charged Slavko Savic, a former soldier with the Light Infantry Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army, with the rape of a woman in Semizovac in the municipality of Vogosca in May and June 1993.

D said that she didn’t assist A in getting an abortion and had not known that she was pregnant. She said she hadn’t been in touch with A since 2013, for reasons unknown to her.

When asked whether she had ever seen injuries on A’s body, D answered negatively.

Defense witness Dusan Cadzo said he ran into A in a cafe after the war.

“I came to the cafe with the defendant once. Witness A was there…They greeted each other. Their meeting was a friendly, pleasant one. She sat with us and we had a drink together,” Cadzo recalled.

The trial will continue on April 13.
