Witness Describes Son’s Alleged Capture by Bosnian Army Forces

The Eastern Sarajevo district prosecution has charged former Bosnian Army fighters Muhamed Adzem, Omer Ugljesa, Senad Halilovic, and Suljo Karkelja with participating in the murder of seven captured members of the Bosnian Serb Army in Gorazde in 1992.Mira Lasica said she fled from Gorazde to the village of Desare in August 1992. When she heard her husband Bosko and son Djoko had been captured, she went to the village of Jabuka.When she arrived to Jabuka, Lasica said she saw men in “former Yugoslav uniforms” and a man wearing headphones. She said she could hear her son’s voice communicating with the uniformed men. She said her son introduced himself, and said that “they surrendered to Muslims, they didn’t do anything and they were asking for help.”Lasica said that afterwards she went to Rogatica and then to Cajnice, as a refugee. She said she heard from several persons that captives were taken to the police station in Gorazde.Lasica said she met Milivoje Carapic Cace in Cajnice. He told her that he had been detained at the police station in Gorazde. He said he saw captives being taken to the upper floor of the police station.Lasica said the remains of her son and husband have never been found.The defense asked Lasica if she heard her son’s voice at the Bosnian Serb Army command, as she had said in a statement she’d given in June 2012. Lasica said she probably did.The trial will continue on March 12.
