Sehagic Trial Postponed

The cantonal court in Zenica postponed today’s hearing of the Jasmin Sehagic trial because defense witnesses failed to appear in the courtroom.
Defense attorney Vlado Adamovic was unable to obtain the addresses of witnesses who had been previously approved by the court. As a result, Segahic’s trial was postponed until the end of March.
Adamovic said that Sehagic had tried to obtain the addresses through the Citizen Identification Protection System (CIPS), but his request was denied. Sehagic’s defense was given the addresses of witnesses who had previously testified at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the witnesses no longer live at the addresses provided by that court.
Sehagic, a former manager of a detention facility situated in the old directorate of the coal mine in Kakanj, is charged with participating in the torture of Croat detainees.
The prosecution alleges that Sehagic failed to undertake necessary and reasonable measures to prevent the torture of the detainees, and that he failed to report the perpetrators to his superiors.
