Markovic Rape Trial Closed to the Public
A defense witness gave testimony in a closed hearing at the trial of two former Bosnian Serb soldiers, who are both accused of raping a minor in Kotor-Varos during the Bosnian war.
The state prosecutor has charged Bosiljko and Ostoja Markovic, both former members of the Kotor-Varos Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska, with the rape of a minor in Kotor-Varos.
The indictment alleges that the defendants and another person raped the minor in a moving minivan several times.
The trial chamber accepted a proposal by the defense to close today’s session to the public, in order to protect the witness.
Ostoja Markovic’s attorney Zoran Bubic also asked the trial chamber to send summons to two witnesses. According to Bubic, they would not appear in court if invited by the defense.
The trial will continue on February 17.
