Majstorovic, a former operational worker with the Public Safety Station, was charged with hitting and kicking prisoner Senad Turbo in the Kula Facility in May 1992, in collaboration with another person. The judge and trial chamber chairman Milorad Krkeljas explained the grounds of Majstorovics acquittal, citing doubts as to the true identity of the assailant in this case as the primary reason for his release.
A suspicion as to whether the person who beat Turbo was Luka Majstorovic, and whether the person in the green military uniform was Luka Majstorovic or a third person, has arisen, Krkeljas said.
Both parties have the right to appeal the verdict with the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.
