Sekarics Defence attorney Borislav Jamina said that he had obtained the documents about the indictees wounding from the Ministry of Labour and Veterans of Republika Srpska.
The documents, introduced as evidence, included, among others, a criminal record for witness S-2, as well as a State Prosecution indictment against Dragan Sekaric, witness S-4 and another person for electoral fraud. As said by attorney Jamina, according to that indictment, by committing the mentioned criminal action, they tried to ensure that witness S-2 would get a seat at the Parliament of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton.
Prosecutor Seid Marusic said that he did not understand the relevance of these pieces of evidence, which the Trial Chamber admitted.
Sekaric, a former member of the Territorial Defence, TO, and Osvetnik (Avenger) paramilitary formation, is charged with having participated in an attack on Lozje village, Gorazde municipality, as well as the murders, rape and physical abuse of non-Serb civilians in Visegrad. According to the charges, Sekaric committed the crimes in the period from April 1992 and during 1993.
Trial Chamber Chairwoman Mira Smajlovic said that the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina had a deadline until mid-January to examine its additional witnesses. After that the Defence can propose its new pieces of evidence again.
At the next hearing the Chamber will re-examine two of the State Prosecution witnesses, who will now appear as State Courts witnesses. Smajlovic said that this was not a formal sequence of events but it was chosen for the sake of cost-efficiency and due to the fact that the indictees were in custody.
The trial is due to continue on December 22.
