Indictee Was Member of Reserve Police Forces

Njegos Malidzan, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, said that he knew Bogdanovic superficially.

“I was mobilised by the VRS at the beginning of April. I was situated in Dobrinja. During some combat activities I was wounded on my stomach and leg. I stayed at a hospital in Pale for about ten days. I went to Kasindo in order to have my wound dressed every four days,” Malidzan said, adding that he was on sick leave for three months.  

He said that he left the hospital during the attacks on Ozrenska and Milinkladska Streets.

“I saw Bogdanovic passing by a couple of times. (…) He was a member of the reserve police forces and wore a blue uniform,” Malidzan said.

The witness mentioned that he joined a unit, which was situated at the Jewish Cemetery, in mid-1993.

Responding to the Prosecution’s questions, the witness said that he could not remember when the attack on Ozrenska and Milinkladska Streets happened.

“He was armed, I am sure. I do not know what weapons he had,” the witness said, responding to Prosecutor Sead Krestalica’s question on whether Bogdanovic was armed when he saw him.  

Bogdanovic and Sladoje are charged with having taken Bajro and Suad Besic from their house to a garage, where they beat them, on June 13, 1992. After that they allegedly transferred them to the Jewish Cemetery, where they used them as human shields. On that occasion Suad Besic was killed.

Malidzan said that he had known indictee Sladoje since mid-1993, when he joined the unit at the Jewish Cemetery.  

The trial is due to continue on November 28.
