Trial Postponed Due to Kuljics Illness

Kuljics Defence attorney Veljko Civsa submitted medical documents about the indictees health condition to the Court of BiH, saying that he suffered from an extremely severe illness.
Trial Chamber Chairwoman Minka Kreho said that the medical findings provided by Kuljics Defence would be handed over to a court expert, who would then give his findings and opinion about them. She said that the Defence of the other indictees would then be asked to say whether they agree to separate the proceedings against Kuljic from the proceedings against the other indictees.
Kuljic is on trial, along with Goran Vujovic, Miroslav Duka and Zeljko Ilic, for crimes committed in Bileca. According to the charges, Vujovic was Chief of the Public Safety Station in Bileca, Duka was Commander of Police, while Kuljic and Ilic were policemen.
Vujovic and Duka are charged with having enabled and organized the detention of Bosniak and Croat civilians in the Public Safety Station building and Students Dormitory in Bileca, where they were killed, tortured and abused, while Kuljic and Ilic participated in physical and mental abuse, torture and murder of Bosniaks and Croats.
Prior to postponing the hearing, Kreho said that the Court of BiH was informed that witness Edin Bajramovic reported having been threatened.
He points out that he received threats, by phone, related to his testimony against indictee Duka and that he reported the threats, both the first and the second one, to the State Investigation and Protection Agency of BiH, Kreho said.
Testifying at this trial on June 17 this year, Bajramovic said that Duka abused him in the Public Safety Station premises in the second half of 1992.
Prosecutor Behaija Krnjic said that he issued a warrant for action both to members of the Police Station in Ilidza and SIPA.
They undertook some operational activities and examined certain individuals. The witness claims that he received constant threats from certain persons, but those persons denied that, Krnjic said, adding that he would provide the Court of BiH with information he had received from Ilidza police and SIPA.
According to the official schedule of hearings held before the Court of BiH, this trial is due to continue on September 2.
