The Defence appealed the verdict pronounced by the Cantonal Court in Mostar on March 26, 2012. Under that verdict, Raguz, former Assistant Commander of the Fourth Battalion of “Knez Domagoj” Brigade with the Croatian Defence Council, was sentenced for having abused Bosniak civilians and prisoners of war in Kostana hospital and Police Station in Stolac.

“The Defence considers that, in its written appeal it had pointed, in detail, to numerous irregularities and unlawful actions that happened during the course of the trial held before the Cantonal Court in Mostar,” said Bojan Kresic, Defence attorney of the indictee.

Federal Prosecutor Tihomir Jurko requested the Court to reject the Defence’s appeal as unfounded and confirm the first instance verdict.

Raguz did not attend this session. The Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, FBiH, will render a decision concerning the Defence’s appeal at a later stage.
