“The Hague Tribunal has approved the lifting of protective measures for the witnesses. Considering the fact that The Hague Prosecution has the right to appeal the decision, its execution is deferred until 4 o’clock today,” said Slavisa Prodanovic, Defence attorney of Krsmanovic.

The Chamber said that it had received a response, saying that “the case is being worked on”, on January 31.

The Defence will decide, later on, which of the witnesses, whose protection measures have been lifted by the Tribunal, will be examined as indictee Krsmanovic’s defence witnesses.

At a request by the Defence, a letter was sent to the Tribunal at the beginning of October 2013, with the aim of contacting about ten witnesses, who previously testified before The Hague Tribunal under protection measures.

The indictment charges Krsmanovic, former member of the Second Podrinje Light Infantry Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having participated in murders, rape, torture and other inhumane acts against Bosniak civilians.

Indictee Krsmanovic said that he was due to undergo a surgery at the Kasindol Hospital on March 10. The Chamber said that a break in the trial would be made at that time.

A status conference was scheduled for March 4.
