Last year the Doboj Court acquitted Kovacevic of all charges due to lack of evidence, but the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska, RS, quashed the verdict and ordered a retrial.

The District Prosecution in Doboj charges Kovacevic, “former member of the Croatian Defence Council, with having raped a female person, threatening her with weapons and using force, in T. village in Bosanski Brod on two occasions during September 1992. The female person had never had sexual intercourse before that. The injured party cried and begged him not to do it.”

Just like the first instance trial, the retrial of Kovacevic will be closed to public for the sake of protecting the injured party’s interests.
