The Bosnian state prosecutor on Friday charged Tolic, as a member of the 102nd Odzak Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, with illegally imprisoning civilians, inhuman treatment and abuse resulting in death, and participationg in forcing women to have sex with other Bosnian Croat fighters.
He is accused of participating in the inhuman treatment of civilians who were illegally detained in the primary school and the Strolit factory in Odzak, as well as prison facilities in the construction materials warehouse and the Fric Pavlik secondary school in the Bosanski Brod municipality between May and November 1992.
“The accused also participated in taking prisoners to do forced labour on the frontlines, where several of them were killed and many of them wounded, as well as participating in the robbing of Serb prisoners,” said the prosecution statement.
On Thursday, the Bosnian state court reached its first-ever final verdict for war crimes in Odzak and Bosanski Brod, sentencing a former military policewoman with the Croatian Defence Council, Albina Terzic, to three years in prison for crimes against Bosnian Serb civilians.
