Witness Muharem Hakalovic, the indictee’s cousin, said that he was on military positions near Gostovici village during the operation in Trusina village. As he said, soldiers, who were “armed to the teeth” and dressed in black uniforms, arrived prior to the attack. He said that he heard that those were “Zuka’s” men.
“They went towards Trusina. Some of our men also went toward Trusina, just like some men from Vakuf,” the witness said, while saying which soldiers passed by him.
The witness said that the indictee was in Buturovic Polje, explaining that he heard that from his brother.
Hakalovic, former member of the 45thBrigade, is on trial, along with five members of “Zulfikar” Squad – Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic and Zulfikar Alispago, for crimes in Trusina.
According to the charges, 18 Croat civilians and four members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who had been captured, were killed.
Defence attorney Vasvija Vidovic asked the witness whether he saw that anybody commanded the attack on Trusina using a walkie-talkie. The witness said that, while he was on the military positions, which were about 400 metres away, he did not see anybody using a walkie-talkie or any members of ABiH commanding staff. He said that he heard about Bojadzic after the events in Trusina for the first time.
The indictment alleges that Bojadzic, Deputy Commander of “Zulfikar” Squad, commanded the attack on Trusina from a nearby hill using a walkie-talkie.
The trial is due to continue on September 9.
