Dragoslav Ivanovic, local resident of Petkovci, said that it was possible that Bosniak captives, who were asking for water, were in a truck parked in front of the Cultural Centre. He said that he went to his neighbour’s in order to fetch some water.

However, as he said, one of the three soldiers did not allow him to give the water container to the captives, explaining that his brother was killed in the war. The witness said that he responded to him by saying that his son was killed too.

After that the soldier pointed his gun towards Ivanovic and threatened him by saying that he would kill him. The witness said that he then took the container from him and threw it away.

“I saw those three soldiers only. They were not known to me,” witness Ivanovic said, adding that the event happened around July 12, 1995.

According to the charges, about a thousand of captives from Srebrenica were held in Petkovci prior to being escorted to a nearby dam, where about 1,000 of them were killed.

Ivanovic testified at the trial of Ostoja Stanisic, former Commander of the Sixth Battalion, and his Deputy Marko Milosevic, who are charged with having known about the planned execution. In addition, the indictment alleges that the captives were escorted to the dam under their command.

The witness confirmed that Stanisic was Commander of a battalion in Petkovci in July 1995, but he did not see him in that period of time.

New Prosecution witnesses are due to be examined at the next hearing scheduled for June 5.
