“Zulfikar” Unit’s Deployment in Konjic Municipality

During the continuation of the trial of Edin Dzeko, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina includes, in the case file, about 85 pieces of material evidence, some of which pertain to crimes committed in Trusina village, near Konjic, and Jablanica during 1993.

Prosecutor Vesna Ilic presented a document issued by the Coratian Security and Information Service in 1996, indicating that 15 Croat civilians and seven captured members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, were killed in Trusina.

According to one of the pieces of evidence, which was issued by the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, on April 16, 1993, the “Zulfikar” Unit (of ABiH) was deployed in the Konjic area due to the conflict with HVO.

Dzeko, former member of “Zulfikar” Unit, is charged with having participated in the shooting of civilians and captured soldiers in Trusina on April 16, 1993.The Prosecutor also presented an ABiH document from late April 1993, indicating that a group of “Zulfikar” Unit members should be sent to Jablanica.

Dzeko is charged with crimes against Croat civilians and prisoners in Jablanica during the second half of 1993.

The Prosecution is due to present the last pieces of material evidence at the next hearing scheduled for June 4.
