According to the charges, Sehagic, former Manager of the detention facility in the former Directorate of the Brown Coal Mine in Kakanj, participated in the torture of Croat detainees.
The Cantonal Prosecution in Zenica alleges that Sehagic failed to undertake the necessary and reasonable measures to prevent the torture and report the perpetrators to his superiors in order to be punished. The Zenica Prosecution announced that, in order to prove its allegations, it would examine eight witnesses and present a number of pieces of material evidence, confirming that the indictee was a Manager of the detention facility and that the injured parties had the status of detainees.
Vlado Adamovic, Defence attorney of the indictee, said that war crimes caused special attention among the general public in terms that no trial should be conducted at all in case a war crime was committed, which, consequently, leads to easy confirmation of indictments. For this reason, Adamovic called on the Trial Chamber to pay due attention in order to determine the truth.
The trial is due to continue on May 6, when three Prosecution witnesses will be examined.
