Testifying under the pseudonym of J-1, the witness said that members of “Zulfikar” Squad of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, arrived in Donja Jablanica in the summer of 1993 and that their command was situated in houses in Rogica.

The witness, former member of that Squad, said that Croat detainees were taken from “The Battle of Neretva” museum in Jablanica to that location in order to perform certain works in the vicinity of the Command.

He said that he worked in a restaurant kitchen, which was about 200 metres away from the Command, and that the detainees, who performed the works, were brought to the kitchen in order to eat there.

“I briefly spoke to the Croat detainees. They would say that somebody had slapped them. I noticed some injuries, swollen eyes, on some of them…” witness J-1 said.

According to the testimony of the witness, indictee Dzeko rarely came to the restaurant. He said that he did not bring Croat detainees there.

“He was attached to the Command,” the witness said.

He was not able to say which detainee mentioned Dzeko to him.

Dzeko, a former member of the “Zulfikar” Squad, is charged with having participated in the torture of Croat detainees in Jablanica in the second half of 1993. Besides that, the indictment charges him with crimes in Trusina on April 16, 1993.

The trial is due to continue on March 12.
