At this hearing the Defence presented two pieces of material evidence, but it did not explain what exactly it was trying to prove with those documents.

Mirza Hukeljic, Prosecutor with the District Prosecution in Eastern Sarajevo, had no objections to these pieces of evidence.

The District Prosecution charges Markovic, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having beaten and physically abused detained civilians in Sokolac municipality from June 1992 to March 1993.

The indictment alleges that Markovic beat two detainees with a metal stick and police baton in the Police Station premises in Sokolac in September 1992.

Defence attorney Milana Borovcanin-Bulic said that she had contacted a court expert, who would conduct neurologic and psychiatric expert examination of the indictee once the Defence had provided him with the necessary documentation.

The trial is due to continue on March 7.
