The two Prosecution witnesses said that they were faced away from the perpetrators, so they could not see who opened the burst of fire at Drago Stevanovic.

“I cannot accuse anybody, because I did not see which one of the three soldiers shot Drago. I only heard a burst of fire,” witness Nikola Stevanovic said, describing how he was captured by the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina at Banj Brdo on Mount Majevica.

The murder of Drago Stevanovic is charged upon Hajrudin Trle. After having conquered the positions previously held by the Republika Srpska Army, VRS in April 1993, Trle and his comrades from the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina allegedly captured several members of the Second Majevica Brigade.

Trle is charged with having killed prisoner Stevanovic and treated other prisoners of war in an inhumane manner.

Second witness Miladin Milic did not see who shot Drago Stevanovic either.

“It was somebody, who knew Drago. I do not know who it was. I just saw Drago falling down,” witness Milic said, adding that he did not know the indictee: “I have never seen this man before”.

Witness Vojislav Djokic said that he did not see who confronted Drago Stevanovic.

“It could have been indictee Trle,” said witness Djokic. His previous statements given to the Prosecution indicated that the murder was committed by a person nicknamed Sike and gave a description of a blonde person aged about 25.

The trial is due to continue on February 11.
