It was published on the webpage of the District Court in Doboj that Kovacevic was acquitted of the charges due to a lack of evidence.

The Doboj District Prosecution charges Kovacevic, former member of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, with having raped a female person, who was still a virgin, in Bosanski Brod twice during September 1992. According to the charges he threatened the injured party with weapons and used force, while she cried and begged him not to do it.

In the interest of the victim the trial was closed to public.

The District Court in Doboj confirmed the indictment against Kovacevic in January this year. Kovacevic pleaded not guilty six months later. The trial began on November 16 this year.

The parties have the right to file an appeal against the verdict with the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.
