The prosecutor, Ozrenka Neskovic, said that the suspects should be remanded in custody because they represent a flight risk, as well as a risk of evidence tampering and influencing witnesses.
The lawyers, Ranko Dakic and Dragan Radetic, responded with the claim that the prosecution failed to provide enough evidence for them to be remanded in custody and proposed restrictive measures instead.
Dakic, Djuric’s lawyer, said that only one witness accuses the suspects, but that no other evidence corroborates this.
“Sead Susic, who was brought in front of a mosque in Prijedor with several other men spoke of execution, but there is no additional proof of this,” said Dakic.
The prosecutor replied that the investigation into the act committed on July 23, 1992, was being extended.
“There are other persons currently unknown to the Prosecution who aided Djuric and Soldat in committing the criminal act,” said Neskovic.
Djuric and Soldat were arrested in Prijedor on December 4 under suspicion that on July 23, 1992, they took part in the imprisonment and execution of ten Bosniak civilians in the village of Carakovo in the municipality of Prijedor.
According to the prosecution, Djuric was at the time a member of the intelligence service and Soldat a military policemen of the 43rd Motorised Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska in Prijedor.
The court will make its decision on custody at a later date.
