Ilic pleaded not guilty to all counts contained in the indictment, charging her with war crimes against the civilian population in Brcko in 1992.

Monika Karan Ilic is charged, in eight counts, with having committed torture, inhumane treatment, physical and the mental abuse of civilians in Luka detention camp and the Public Safety Station premises in Brcko on a daily basis from May to mid-July 1992.

The Brcko District Prosecution filed the indictment against Ilic on March 1 this year. The Basic Court confirmed the indictment four days later.

The indictee has been held in the Detention Unit of the Penal and Correctional Facility in Bijeljina since the end of 2011, when she was ordered into custody due to a danger that she might flee and a possibility that the public order might be disturbed by releasing her to liberty.

The date of a status conference and beginning of the trial are due to be set at a later stage.
