Nedzad Oric, who is on trial, along with Hamed Salihovic and Azem Ahmic, for committing war crimes against the civilian population in Srebrenik municipality, did not appear in the courtroom and failed to inform his Defence attorney Mensur Radoncic and the Trial Chamber about the reasons for his absence.
According to the Tuzla Cantonal Prosecution’s charges, Hamed Salihovic, Nedzad Oric and Azem Ahmic, former members of the 243rd Muslim Podrinje Brigade with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, stopped a bus in front of Stevo Tesic’s house in Jasenica village, where a large group of refugees from Srebrenica gathered, on July 17, 1995.
The indictment alleges that, after having been told by upset women that Tesic did not allow the refugees to move into his house, they beat Tesic up, carried him into the bus and drove him to the military barracks in Ciljuge village, Zivinice municipality.
“On that same night an unknown person made a deep cut to Tesic’s neck in the military barracks, in which many military persons and civilians were present. Tesic died due to heavy bleeding,” the indictment alleges.
The trial is due to continue on April 24.
