Local Justice – Brcko district: Indictment Against Monika Ilic Confirmed

The court in Brcko has confirmed an indictment against Bosnian Serb woman charged with war crimes against Bosniaks and Croats in Luka detention camp, Brcko.

Monika Ilic is charged on eight counts of taking part in abuse and torture of civilians detained in the Luka detention camp and police station in Brcko between May and July 1992.

The Prosecution of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina raised an indictment against Ilic on March 1.

This is only the second indictment against a woman charged with war crimes before courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ilic has been held in custody since December last year, due to the danger that she might flee and a real possibility that her release might cause public disorder.

Ilic was arrested in the Prijedor area in December last year and she is currently held in custody in Bijeljina.M.A.
