Protected witness S2 says, at the trial for crimes in Bradina, Konjic municipality, that indictee Miralem Macic killed Drago Kuljanin in 1992. Witness S2 said that, while he was looking for his friend Vaso Vujicic on May 26, 1992, he met a column of civilian captives from Bradina.

He said that he asked one of the civilians if he had seen his friend.

“The man told me that Vaso had been with them, but somebody had taken him out of the column,” witness S2 said, adding that Drago Kuljanin, known as Debeli, was there too. He said that a tall uniformed man was beating Kuljanin.

The witness said that he then went to Bradina, where he found his friend Vaso’s body, which was still warm, and two other corpses lying next to it.

The witness took the same road back to Konjic. He said that, on his way he met the column of civilian captives again on the trunk road. S2 said that he heard some noise and saw someone pushing Kuljanin and telling him to walk faster.

“Kuljanin was too fat to walk faster. I heard gunshots and saw a big uniformed guy shooting Kuljanin on his back. Later on a colleague of mine,Miroslav Stenek, told me that his name was Miralem Macic,” the witness said.

Prosecutor Sanja Jukic asked the witness twice if he was sure that Macic had killed Kuljanin. The witness responded by saying that he was a million percent sure. He then identified the indictee in the courtroom.

When asked by the Defence who escorted the column in Bradina, witness S2 said that it was police from Konjic.

During the plea hearing Macic admitted having killed Srdjan Koprivica, whose murder is charged upon him in the first count. At this hearing Macic confirmed the admission of guilt for that murder.

According to the charges, in May 1992 Macic took a civilian out of a house in Bradina village and took him, along with other Serb captives, to a trunk road, where he fired two bursts of bullets on his back, killing him.

Macic denied having committed the other crimes mentioned in the indictment, such as causing severe bodily injuries and suffering to Serb civilians during their capture in Bradina village and being present, along with other members of reserve forces of the Public Safety Station from Konjic, in Sitnik village, Konjic municipality, where he killed a disabled old man in June 1992.

The Trial Chamber is due to render a decision concerning the admission of guilt for the first count at the next hearing, which is scheduled for November 2 this year.
