The Bosnian appeals court upheld a verdict convicting four former Bosnian Army military policemen of physically and sexually abusing Croat civilians at a detention facility in the village of Kruscica near Vitez in 1993. The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Friday upheld the verdict sentencing ex-soldiers Minet Akeljic, Saban Haskic, Senad Bilal and Hazim Patkovic to a total of 27 years in prison for crimes against civilians in the village of Kruscica in 1993.

Enver Buza, the former commander of a Bosnian Army battalion in Prozor, is on trial for failing to punish his subordinates for killing 27 Croat civilians in an attack on the village of Uzdol in 1993. In closing arguments at the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Tuesday, the prosecution argued that former Bosnian Army battalion commander Enver Buza should be found guilty and given the harshest possible penalty.

Ahmet Sejdic, the former commander of the First Visegrad Brigade of the Bosnian Army, was cleared of the unlawful arrest and inhumane treatment of Serb civilians and prisoners of war in Rudo and Gorazde in 1992 and 1993. The Bosnian state court on Tuesday cleared former Bosnian Army brigade commander Ahmet Sejdic of 11 counts of inhumane treatment of Serb civilians and prisoners of war from the Bosnian Serb Army in the period between July 1992 and February 1993.

The Appeals Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has jailed Samir Kesmer and Mirsad Menzilovic for six years each for raping a minor in Sarajevo in 1993. The Appeals Chamber of the State Court in Bosnia has jailed two former former Bosnian Army members, following a retrial, for six years each, for raping a protected witness who was a minor at the time, in 1993.

The prosecution urged the Bosnian state court to convict former local police chiefs Ibro Merkez, Predrag Bogunic and Esef Huric of unlawfully detaining, abusing and killing Serb civilians in Gorazde in 1992 and 1993. In its closing statement at the state court in Sarajevo on Thursday, the prosecution said it had proved that former police officers Ibro Merkez, Predrag Bogunic and Esef Huric were guilty of unlawful detention, murder, inhumane treatment and the deprivation of the right to a fair trial between July 1992 and February 1993.

Former Bosnian Army security officer Mehmed Dobraca was charged with committing war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war who were detained in the Rogatica and Gorazde areas in 1995. The Bosnian state court on Wednesday confirmed an indictment accusing Mehmed Dobraca of crimes against civilians and prisoners of war in the period between February and October 1995.

Eight former fighters went on trial for wartime crimes against Serb civilians who were unlawfully detained and allegedly tortured and sexually abused in the Lukavac area in 1992. The trial of Zijad Srabovic, Refik Morankic, Ahmet Bajric, Abid Arapcic, Senaid Cosic, Pasaga Cajic, Samir Dzambic and Mirsad Zilic, who are charged with the inhumane treatment, torture and murder of civilians detained in the city of Lukavac and nearby Modrac from June to October 1992, opened at the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Tuesday.
