The Bosnian state prosecution said on Monday that an exhumation on Mount Ozren has been completed and the remains of three people have been found.
“The available information and evidence suggest that these are Serb victims killed at Vozuca in 1995. The remains of nine people were exhumed at the same place last year,” the prosecution said.
The remains were transported to Banja Luka, where the remains will be analysed and bone samples taken in order to determine the identity of the victims and the cause of their death through a DNA analysis.
Sakib Mahmuljin, the former commander of the Bosnian Army’s Third Corps, is on trial for allegedly committing crimes in the Zavidovici and Vozuca area in central Bosnia.
Mahmuljin is accused of having failed to prevent murders and inhumane acts being committed by members of El Mujahedeen unit.
According to the charges, members of the El Mujahedeen unit killed 52 prisoners of war in the period from September 11 to 29, 1995.
The prosecution says the El Mujahedeen unit had Middle Eastern fighters, but was under the control of the Third Corps of the Bosnian Army, which was commanded by Mahmuljin.
His arrest in December 2015 angered some Bosniak politicians, who insisted he was innocent, but was welcomed by the Bosnian Serb former fighters’ union.
