“The defendant is charged with having been on the field when the operation was carried out, near the location where the killings took place, and that he received information about the crime, but did nothing to conduct an investigation and prosecute the perpetrators,” said the Bosnian prosecution in a statement.

Buza will not be remanded in custody during his trial.

On Thursday, another former Bosnian Army serviceman, Jasmin Vikovic, was arrested in connection with war crimes against Croat civilians.

Vikovic was arrested on suspicion that he took part in the illegal detention, abuse and killing of three Croat civilians in Orahovica near Konjic in August 1993.

“After the abuse, one civilian died as a result, and the defendant came and killed the other two civilians,” said the prosecution.

Vikovic was arrested by the Bosnian border police as he was trying to enter the country.

The prosecution asked for the suspect to be remanded in custody for a month.
