Hrstic, Medic, Nogolica and Rajic were charged on Wednesday, as former commanders and members of the Croatian Defense Forces and Croatian Defence Council in the Capljina municipality, with having participated in crimes against Serb detainees held at the Dretelj detention camp in 1992.

The indictment alleges that the defendants participated in torturing, beating and robbing Serb civilians in the Capljina area, taking them to be held at the Dretelj detention camp, and raping and sexual abusing women.

According to the charges, the crimes contributed to the persecution of the Serb civilian population and influenced Serbs to move out of the Capljina area and the Neretva river valley.

The indictment has been forwarded to the state court for confirmation.
