Mario Frimel Trial Postponed
The Mario Frimel trial has been postponed because defense witnesses failed to appear in court. Frimel has been charged with war crimes in Sarajevo at the cantonal court of Sarajevo.
Trial chamber chair Jasenko Ruzic said witness Zlatan Babic had not been properly informed about the hearing. Mario Frimel’s defense said witness Goran Hatibovic was on an official trip.
The cantonal prosecution of Sarajevo has charged Frimel, the former commander of the Ivan Krndelj Squad of the Bosnian Army, with unlawfully arresting, assaulting and mentally abusing Serbs in the Hrasno neighbourhood of Sarajevo at the beginning of October 1992.
The trial will continue on November 18, when witnesses Babic and Hatibovic will be invited to testify again.
