Witness Testifies in Defense of Nusret Muhic on Kladanj Crimes

Nusret Muhic, Selman Busnov, Safet Mujcinovic, Zijad Hamzic, Nedzad Hodzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Osman Gogic and Kahro Vejzovic, former members of civil and military police and the Territorial Defense have been charged with war crimes in the Kladanj area. They have been charged with the unlawful detention of Serb civilians in Stupari, as well as the assault and inhumane treatment of civilians.

Defense witness Nail Hercegovac said he worked as a technician with a crime fighting group with Nusret Muhic and later on with Midhat Softic, as of late April 1992.

Hercegovac said some Serbs were brought in for questioning on the illegal possession of weapons. He said he saw some of them.

“Once I was in the office and heard Nusret yelling in the corridor, ‘And who could harm him?’” Hercegovac said. He said he saw a person sitting on a bench in the office on that occasion.

Hercegovac said he went to Stupari with the defendant later on. Hercegovac said he waited in front of the station for 45 minutes before Muhic came out and told him they would go to Kladanj with two other people.

Hercegovac said he didn’t know what had happened to them later on. He said he didn’t notice any visible injuries on them.

When asked why the defendant was driving the two persons, Hercegovac said the defendant told him “he should take their statements regarding weapons.”

The trial will continue on October 2, when Hamzic’s defense will begin presenting its evidence.
