The district court in Banja Luka on Tuesday convicted Loncarevic and Makivic of taking part in the killing of Vehbija Mujnovic, the owner of the Borac restaurant in the city.

The former police officers came to the restaurant on July 8, 1992 with two unknown persons, took Mujnovic and killed him in the apartment above, the court found.

“When determining mitigating circumstances, the court looked at the passing of time since the murder, that Loncarevic and Makivic are family men and that they behaved well during the trial and were not convicted before”, said presiding judge Olga Pantic.

She added there were no aggravating circumstances on the part of the defendants.

The verdict can be appealed.
