The Sarajevo-based court on Monday acquitted Coloman, a former member of the Seventh Muslim Brigade of the Bosnian Army, of taking part in the killings on April 24, 1993 of Croat civilians who were detained in the village of Poculica in the Vitez area.
“The prosecution did not present sufficient evidence,” said presiding judge Halil Lagumdzija.
Explaining the verdict, Lagumdzija said that it had been proven that three civilians were killed and nine others injured in Poculice in April 1993.
“However, what is disputable is Coloman’s participation in this act as it was described in the indictment,” he said.
He explained that the testimonies of two witnesses who claimed the defendant took part in the crime were “flawed” because their descriptions of the perpetrator were not convincing.
This verdict can be appealed.
