Witness Identified Mother’s Remains in Karacici

Osman Dobraca said he talked to his parents, who lived in Karacici, near Rogatica, at the beginning of the war.

“They said the Serb and Yugoslav Army was attacking them. Later there was no more communication,” Dobraca said.

Dobraca said he found out later on that his mother was killed in Muhamed Pinjo’s barn.

He said Fikret Pinjo told him about the site of his mother’s murder, and they both attended the exhumation.

“I know there was rain. I dug and we found a bone, and gold,” Dobraca said. He said rifle casings were also found in the area of the barn.

The defense asked Dobraca who identified his mother’s remains. Dobraca said he did.

“I recognized her gold rings…I knew her clothes,” Dobraca said.

Dobraca testified at the trial of Radomir Markovic, Mile Kusic, Dragan Bozovic, Sasa Perkovic, Radomir Gluhovic, Pero Radovic, Ilija Vukasinovic and Milos Vukasinovic.

The defendants have been charged with searching and pillaging houses in the villages of Karacici, Vragolovi and Golubovici on September 18, 1992. They allegedly acted in collaboration with several other unidentified persons.

According to the charges, the defendants found approximately 20 Bosniak civilians hiding in a garage in Karacici. They beat them using rifle butts, after which they allegedly pushed the civilians into a nearby building and killed them.
The shooting caused a fire, which burned the victims’ bodies.

The indictment alleges that at the time Markovic was the commander of the Socicka Company of the Rogaticka Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army, while the other defendants were members of that unit.

The trial continues on June 9.
