A protected prosecution witness known as SG-1 testified at the Goran Saric trial. At today’s hearing, the court prohibited any media coverage of SG-1’s testimony.

At the beginning of the hearing, prosecutor Ibro Bulic said SG-1 requested that his photo and testimony not be publicized by the media. The trial chamber approved his request.

Goran Saric has been charged with commanding police forces which participated in the search, disarmament, and forcible resettlement of women, children and the elderly in the Srebrenica area in July 1995. During the same time period, Saric allegedly commanded police forces which separated men and boys from their families. According to the indictment, these men and boys were then executed in the Srebrenica area.

Saric also allegedly ordered police forces to guard the road between Bratunac and Konjevic Polje and capture men who were trying to leave the protected zone of Srebrenica by walking through the woods.

The trial will continue with the examination of another prosecution witness on May 11.
