Perkovic, a former member of the 103rd Derventska Brigade of the Croatian Defense Council, was found guilty of having tortured three civilians from May-June 1992.

According to the verdict, Perkovic beat the civilians all over their bodies with his fists and legs, as well as with a baton, rifle butt and knife. The civilians were beaten while detained in the Yugoslav National Army Center and the Rabic hangar.

He was acquitted of charges for the aiding and participating in the assault of a detainee and the torture of two others. The count referring to the torture of two residents of Cardaci, near Derventa, was rejected.

The Supreme Court reached the verdict following a retrial and the revocation of two previous first instance verdicts by the District Court in Doboj. Under the two first instance verdicts, Perkovic was sentenced to five and a half and two years in prison, respectively.
