Judge Vesna Jesenkovic said the two defendants, who are both citizens of Serbia, received the indictment and their summons though the Serbian Ministry of Justice. However, Bosnia’s state court had received no response from the defendants.

Dragan Medjovic, Narancic’s defense attorney, said he tried to contact his client but was unable to reach him.

According to the indictment, Narancic allowed Plavanjac to enter a military prison located in the Petar Kocic school building in Bosanska Krupa in August 1992. In doing so, Narancic helped Plavanjac kill 11 Bosniak civilians.

It is alleged that at the time Narancic was a member of the Military Police Company of the 11th Krupska Light Infantry Brigade and also a guard at the military prison in the Petar Kocic school building. Plavanjac was allegedly a member of the Bosnian Serb Army.

The indictment was confirmed on January 7, 2014.

The next hearing will be scheduled at a later stage.
