The 41 pieces of material evidence, which Prosecutor Predrag Tomic introduced, included combat reports by units with the Zvornicka Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, pertaining to their activities in July 1995.
“The regular combat report made by the Milici First Light Brigade gives an overview of activities that show that ‘the enemy forces have become disorganized and that a part of Muslims are surrendering to our forces’. The report is dated July 11,” Prosecutor Tomic said.
He also presented several official documents about activities undertaken by Republika Srpska police, which mentioned that the demilitarisation of Srebrenica, transport of civilians and terrain search. Several maps, showing combat activities on the territories of Srebrenica and Zepa, were also included in the case file.
“We are including five maps of the First Podrinjska Light Infantry Brigade, showing combat activities in the Zepa area. Also, we are presenting a map on which somebody wrote ‘Srebrenica was and will remain a Serb town’,” Tomic said.
Those documents were presented at the trial of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are on trial for having killed about 1,000 Srebrenica captives on a dam, near Petkovci village, Zvornik municipality, in mid-July 1995.
According to the charges, Stanisic was Commander of the Sixth Battalion with the Zvornicka Brigade of VRS, while Milosevic was his Deputy.
The material evidence presented by the Prosecution also included documents issued by a hospital in the Srebrenica area.
“We are presenting two pages, containing names of Muslims. By presenting these documents we want to prove that the Muslims were taken to hospital after having been captured. They have been missing without trace since,” Tomic said.
The Defence said that they objected to all of the pieces of evidence, because they were irrelevant for the indictees.
The presentation of material evidence is due to continue on January 21.
